## Key points

- *Rooted* reflects on identity and home after two years of touring.
- The band recorded on the road with limited time and equipment.
- Midnight Generation have announced a 2027 world tour.

## Summary

After two years on the road, Mexican disco-funk band Midnight Generation say their new album, *Rooted*, reflects on identity, home and the people who shaped them. Touring also influenced how they made the record, as they wrote and recorded in temporary spaces and learned to trust their instincts when time and equipment were limited.

Frontman Fernando Mares says a vocoder bought near Chicago was added at the last minute to the track “Premium Delivery”. The band’s influences include Nile Rodgers, Jamiroquai and Daft Punk, while songs such as “Rumba!” and “El Rap De Piter Pan” connect their sound to Chihuahua through bilingual lyrics and local references. Midnight Generation have also announced a 2027 world tour, including dates in the Americas and Europe, and Mares says a full Spanish-language album remains a possibility.
