An Illinois woman, Corie Walsh, 40, has been charged with first-degree murder after her two-year-old son, Barrett "Bear" Walsh, was found dead at the family's home in Frankfort last week. Her lawyer says Walsh was suffering a psychotic episode at the time, and court documents reportedly show she had been closely following the Lindsay Clancy trial, discussing it in a group chat hours before her son's death. The case has drawn attention partly due to its eerie parallels with the Clancy case, in which a Massachusetts mother is accused of killing her three children.

According to the filing, Walsh allegedly told police she killed her son because she believed he was "the devil" and "the Antichrist." Officers reportedly found a neighbour performing CPR on the boy, who died of asphyxiation from ligature compression, while Walsh was discovered upstairs in a bathtub having apparently harmed herself with a knife. Her husband was out of state at the time, and another infant in the home was found unharmed, along with two school-aged children who returned during the incident. Walsh has been booked into Will County Adult Detention Facility on three counts of murder and is due in court on Tuesday.
