The incident occurred on 2 September 2026 at El Trampolin beach, according to a social media post by Nadia Garcia Gomez, who is petitioning for the arrest of those involved and described the killing as an act of "extreme and unjustifiable cruelty", noting dolphins are protected under Spanish and EU law. The episode comes amid heightened tensions in Ceuta over migration from Morocco, after more than 70,000 migrants stormed the enclave's border in July; while most later returned, thousands remain, and locals last week tore down migrant tents and shelters on the beach.
