Miley Cyrus has released "Bass Persuades," the title track and lead single from her upcoming tenth studio album, alongside a music video that critics say draws heavily on Madonna's style. The song follows a teaser widely compared to PJ Harvey's "This Is Love" video, and marks Cyrus's first full musical era since dropping "Cyrus" from her stage name and releasing last year's album *Something Beautiful*.

The album, also titled Bass Persuades, is due on 18 September via Atlantic Records. Cyrus will support the release with two headline shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on 16 and 18 October, with general tickets on sale from 11 September at 10:00am PST via Ticketmaster. "Bass Persuades" is technically her second new song of 2026, after "Younger You," released earlier this year as Hannah Montana for that character's 20th anniversary special.

Miley Cyrus is a US singer and actress who first rose to fame as a child star on the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, and has since built a long career as a pop artist, releasing albums, touring and taking on acting roles. She has previously changed how she presents herself professionally, including at one point dropping "Cyrus" from her stage name, and last year put out an album called Something Beautiful.

She is now preparing to release her tenth studio album, also to be accompanied by live shows, marking a new phase in her career after a period without major new music. Atlantic Records, a major record label, is releasing the album.

The wider context includes comparisons some critics have drawn between her new material and the styles of other well-known musicians, as well as a separate, unrelated song she put out earlier in the year tied to a Disney anniversary project connected to her old Hannah Montana character.
