Miranda Hart has said appearing on Celebrity Traitors will be physically challenging because she still experiences fatigue and pain linked to ME. The 53-year-old comedian, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight during years of ill health, believes returning to television is the right next step despite the demands of the programme.

Hart said Lyme disease, diagnosed after a 33-year delay, developed into ME and left her bedbound. She now feels well enough to work again, hopes the enjoyment of filming will outweigh the difficulties, and joked that fellow contestants may need to help her during physical tasks. The BBC series begins on 1 October and features celebrities including James Acaster, Claudia Winkleman, Richard E Grant and Ross Kemp.
