Miranda Otto To Star In Binge Family Comedy ‘Tough Love’

Deadline · 5 hours ago

Miranda Otto has been cast to lead Tough Love, a new family comedy for Australian streamer Binge created by and co-starring Rick Donald. The series, which entered production this week alongside newly released first-look images, marks another local original for Binge following the success of Colin From Accounts, whose directing duo Trent O'Donnell and Madeleine Dyer are also behind this show. It matters as part of Foxtel Group's (now under DAZN) continued push into premium Australian scripted comedy.

Otto plays Kerry Hart, a mother diagnosed with cancer who realises her three adult children – played by Donald, Liz Kingsman and Hugo Johnstone-Burt – are unable to cope without her, with Jay Ryan playing her partner. The show is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia, with funding from Foxtel and Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW, and was first announced back in September 2025.
