‘Miss World Chile 2025’ IGNACIA FERNÁNDEZ Explains How She Became A Death Metal Singer
Ignacia Fernández, the 28-year-old model crowned Miss World Chile 2025, has discussed how she also became the vocalist and founder of Chilean progressive death metal band DECESSUS, in a new interview with Finland's Chaoszine. She explained that her journey into extreme metal began in childhood, moving from rock acts like Guns N' Roses to heavier bands such as System of a Down before discovering harsh vocal styles.
Fernández said she first heard death growls in Epica's Mark Jansen but never imagined performing them herself until, aged around 11 or 12, she saw Arch Enemy's classic "Nemesis" live video and realised a woman could sing that way. She then taught herself by experimenting at home, citing The Agonist's Alissa White-Gluz as a major inspiration, though she said DECESSUS was not her first attempt at the style, as she had previously stepped away from music for personal reasons.
