Simon Pegg's espionage thriller The Undeclared War has become an unexpected streaming hit on Peacock, with its second season landing in the platform's global top 10 four years after the first season premiered. The Mission: Impossible actor, better known for playing Benji in that franchise and soon to appear as Balrog in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, is drawing renewed attention for a lower-profile project that has proven popular despite the long gap between seasons.

The show, written and run by Collin Teevan, follows analysts at GCHQ working to stop a cyberattack on Britain's electoral system, centred on a young trainee called Saara Parvan who is thrust into a data war with Russia. It holds Rotten Tomatoes scores of 62% from critics and 72% from audiences, and is being pitched to fans of Slow Horses given its shared focus on an intelligence unit combating domestic threats. Both seasons are currently available to stream on Peacock.
