Miyu Distribution Acquires Fernanda Salgado’s ‘Ana, en Passant’ Starring Lauded Brazilian Actress Zezé Motta (EXCLUSIVE)
Miyu Distribution has acquired international rights to Fernanda Salgado’s animated feature debut, “Ana, en Passant”, ahead of its premieres in Brasília and Vancouver. The Brazil–Portugal–France co-production will become the first animated film to compete in Vancouver International Film Festival’s Vanguard programme, giving the project a notable international platform.
The film follows Ana, a young Black French woman who travels to Belo Horizonte after her grandmother’s death and encounters Alice, her double, while exploring family memory and identity. Starring Zezé Motta, Carlos Francisco and Jéssica Pierina, it combines rotoscoping, hand-drawn animation, collage and stop motion; it is due for a Brazilian theatrical release on 5 November.
