Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway 2 gets new trailer, streaming release date
Netflix has announced that Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, the second instalment in the Gundam Hathaway film trilogy, will begin streaming later this month, alongside a new trailer released on Tuesday. The film had already screened in Japanese cinemas in January and in American theatres in May, and its swift arrival on Netflix means fans will not have to wait as long as they did for the first instalment to reach streaming.
The Hathaway films adapt Hathaway's Flash, a trilogy of light novels written by series creator Yoshiyuki Tomino, set in the Universal Century timeline 26 years after the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam. The first film, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, released in 2021 and is already on Netflix, with both entries praised as accessible starting points for newcomers. Director Shukou Murase and screenwriter Yasuyuki Muto return for this second film, with Shinichirou Watanabe handling storyboards and SZA performing the theme song; it lands on Netflix on 31 August, though no date has been set yet for the trilogy's concluding film.
