Modulate raises $25M for its voice models and analysis suite
Modulate, a Boston-based voice intelligence startup, has raised $25 million in new funding to expand its platform for voice AI analysis and security. The funding, led by Future Ventures with participation from Hyperplane and Lakestar, reflects growing investor interest in the voice AI sector, particularly in companies addressing the need to detect deepfakes, understand conversation nuance, and ensure compliance in regulated industries.
The startup, founded in 2017 by former MIT physics undergraduates Mike Pappas and Carter Huffman, now operates over 100 AI models across two categories: signal extraction models (detecting emotion, tone, language, and synthetic voices) and analysis models (identifying intent, rule violations, and scams). With this new funding added to its previous $41 million raised at a $170 million valuation, Modulate serves enterprises in customer service, call centres, and regulated sectors by providing granular insights into customer interactions that go beyond basic sentiment analysis to reveal genuine satisfaction or fraud attempts.
