A large cargo ship, the Panama-flagged First Margaux, collided with the much smaller Chinese fishing vessel Luqing Yuanyu 108 near Singapore, leaving seawater sweeping across its deck as crew members struggled to remain upright. The dramatic footage has drawn attention because of the vessels’ stark difference in size and the dangers of navigation in one of the world’s busiest shipping corridors.

AIS data suggests the collision occurred on 17 September, after both ships left nearby anchorages and entered the westbound Singapore Strait traffic lane; the cargo ship was travelling roughly 2–3 knots faster. The fishing vessel later reached a berth, and no deaths or injuries have been reported, while the First Margaux continued west before stopping and returning to anchor. Singaporean authorities have not established the cause or responsibility, and the Panama Maritime Authority is investigating; an analyst cautioned that the footage shows only one perspective.
