An 18-year-old Afghan refugee, Sulaiman Tajzai, has pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to murdering 26-year-old Farmanullah Sherzad after travelling around 150 miles from Leeds to Westminster to carry out the attack. CCTV footage showed Tajzai buying a knife near his Leeds home before making the journey to London, where he stabbed Mr Sherzad to death outside his home on Abbey Orchard Street on 27 March. The case has drawn attention because Mr Sherzad had previously been accused of stalking by Tajzai's family, and the killing followed months of unresolved police involvement between the two families.

CCTV tracked Tajzai's journey across London to King's Cross and on to Mr Sherzad's address, where he lay in wait before chasing and fatally stabbing his victim, who died roughly 20 minutes later. The feud stemmed from a relationship between Mr Sherzad and the wife of Tajzai's cousin that began in autumn 2025; Mr Sherzad had been arrested in October over stalking and trespass allegations but was released with no further action after the complainants withdrew cooperation. Forensic evidence, including bloodstained gloves linking Tajzai's DNA to the scene, helped secure his arrest at a relative's house in Leeds two days after the killing. He has also pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and awaits sentencing.
