Anti-immigration activists confronted the Reverend Canon Dr Richard Frith inside Doncaster Minster on Saturday, accusing him of failing to uphold "British values" because he had attended a counter-protest earlier in the day. The incident followed a day of rival demonstrations in the city, during which police worked to keep opposing groups apart, and it has drawn condemnation from the march's own organisers, who insisted those who entered the church did not represent them.

Footage shows a protester telling Dr Frith he "clearly doesn't support British values" for being "happy to see this country invaded", before police intervened and ushered the group outside. The confrontation was triggered by claims that the Minster's bells were being deliberately rung to drown out speeches by Unite The Right UK supporters gathered nearby, though Dr Frith said the bells ring routinely on Saturdays. Unite The Right UK spokesperson Steve Dand said he was "not happy" about the church being entered and pledged to personally apologise to the vicar, while separately a mother and daughter were briefly caught up in clashes with marchers before police stepped in.
