## Key points

- Bodycam footage shows officers finding Minardi asleep in his car.
- He was cited for an open alcohol container.
- Westborough placed him on administrative leave pending an outside investigation.

## Summary

Westborough Police Chief Todd Minardi was found asleep in his car in Shrewsbury with vodka bottles, prompting a welfare check after a nearby worker noticed the vehicle had been there since the previous day. Newly released bodycam footage shows officers repeatedly asking him to put his hands on the steering wheel; the incident has led to an investigation and his placement on administrative leave.

Minardi was found shortly before 12.30pm on 23 October with an opened bottle of vodka in a bag and an empty bottle inside the car. He initially declined medical treatment but later agreed to go to hospital, and was cited for having an open alcohol container. Police said they could not charge him with driving under the influence because the car was not running when they arrived; town officials said an outside investigator would review the incident.
