A delivery rider working for Ocado was filmed being stopped by City of London Police after running a red light in Bishopsgate, London, and was subsequently found to be carrying a six-inch flick knife. The incident, captured on bodycam footage from 8 September, highlights the force's proactive "Safer City Streets" approach, whereby routine traffic stops can uncover more serious offences and remove dangerous weapons from circulation.

Ridwan Abdilahi, 23, initially disputed the red light call before attempting to flee from the officer on foot, but was quickly restrained and searched, revealing the concealed blade in his coat. He claimed he had been rushing to see his girlfriend amid relationship difficulties. Abdilahi has since admitted charges of possessing a bladed article, failing to stop for police and running a red light while cycling, and has been remanded in custody pending sentencing.
