Driver filmed misusing 74-year-old woman’s blue badge in Ealing

Daily Mail · 2 hours ago

A man was filmed parking his car in Ealing, west London, while displaying a 74-year-old woman's blue badge, which he was not entitled to use. Blue badge misuse is a criminal offence in the UK, and the incident, captured by local campaigner Mark Uddin, has renewed concerns about weak enforcement of the scheme that is meant to help disabled people access parking.

The driver was seen leaving a grey Toyota on Windsor Road at around 4pm on Saturday before walking away without responding when confronted by Uddin, known online as "Walking Marky". Misusing a blue badge can result in confiscation or a fine of up to £1,000, and the Department for Transport and Ealing Council both stressed that such abuse undermines a scheme relied on by millions of disabled people, with councils responsible for investigating reported cases.

  • Man filmed using stranger's blue badge to park in Ealing, London
  • Misuse of blue badges is illegal, punishable by up to £1,000 fine
  • Campaigner says badge misuse is "rife" and poorly enforced
