A Ryanair Boeing 737 clipped its wing tip on the runway during an aborted landing at Dublin Airport on Wednesday evening, prompting the pilots to abort and carry out a go-around as passengers screamed. Footage of the incident shows the aircraft tipping onto its right-hand side on touchdown before the crew powered it back into the air; it landed safely around 15 minutes later and all passengers disembarked normally. Ryanair said engineers repaired the wing tip overnight and the aircraft returned to service the following morning.

Flight FR9457 had flown from Bologna and was landing at around 10.45am when the impact occurred. The incident came amid separate turbulence for UK aviation, as Ryanair chief Michael O'Leary renewed calls for National Air Traffic Services boss Martin Rolfe to be sacked over technical failures that led to 51 UK flight cancellations on Thursday, including 28 at Heathrow, and accused Rolfe of misrepresenting the cause of the latest outage.
