## Summary

A resurfaced clip from Channel 4’s *8 Out of 10 Cats* shows comedian Sean Lock criticising Russell Brand’s political comments, calling them self-serving and saying he feared his daughters might one day bring someone like Brand home. The clip has drawn renewed attention following Brand’s convictions for rape and sexual assault.

Lock argued that Brand had shifted from urging people not to vote to asking who they should vote for, and said people should take an interest in politics. Mel C defended Brand’s argument on the programme, while David O’Doherty suggested giving him some leeway. Brand, 51, was found guilty of raping a woman and sexually assaulting three others; the rape involved a 21-year-old fan after a 2009 performance.
