Shopper disarms gunman after three shots in Wood Green shop

Daily Mail · 2 hours ago

A man who was shot at inside a north London convenience store fought with the gunman and diverted the weapon, according to CCTV shown in court. The incident is significant because three shots were fired at close range in a public shop, yet the intended victim escaped injury after resisting the attacker.

Mustafa Bolat, 29, admitted possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence after the March incident in Wood Green, but an Old Bailey jury cleared him of attempted murder and firearm and ammunition offences alleging intent to endanger life. Prosecutors said Bolat fired three times at Ali Unlu, including once when the gun was inches from his head; Bolat said he intended only to frighten him. Neither man cooperated with police, so the motive remains unclear, and Bolat was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on 13 November.
