Vicki Williams, a history teacher at Milford Haven School in Pembrokeshire, was stabbed in the head by a 15-year-old pupil who had approached her under the pretence of asking her to check his homework. CCTV-style footage has now emerged showing the immediate aftermath, with Ms Williams seen fleeing the classroom in a daze, still clutching the blood-stained knife, before the school was placed into lockdown. The case highlights concerns about knife crime and violence against teachers in schools, with Ms Williams saying she believed she was "going to die" during the attack.

The boy, now 16 and unable to be named for legal reasons, brought an eight-inch kitchen knife into school and waited until Ms Williams was alone at the end of the school day before attacking her, later fleeing while she was taken to hospital for a scalp wound and cuts. A jury at Swansea Crown Court acquitted him of attempted murder but convicted him of wounding with intent, and Judge Paul Thomas KC, who called it "pure luck" she was not more seriously hurt, sentenced him to four-and-a-half years in youth detention. Ms Williams says she has since suffered post-traumatic stress disorder and is unsure whether she will be able to return to teaching.
