A woman in Ealing, west London, has admitted to using her 75-year-old father's blue badge to park while she went shopping, an offence that is illegal under Department for Transport rules and can carry a £1,000 fine. She was confronted on camera by local resident Mark Uddin after returning to her Mercedes on Windsor Road to find a parking ticket, initially claiming she was "about to pick him up" before admitting she had been in the wrong.

The incident, filmed on a Monday afternoon, was the second case of blue badge misuse spotted by Mr Uddin on the same road within two days, after a man was caught using a 74-year-old woman's badge on 29 August. Mr Uddin, who says he has reported over 1,500 car-related offences to Ealing Council, noted the woman risked prosecution merely to avoid a £2.50 parking fee. Ealing councillor Dominic Moffitt said blue badge abuse "will not be tolerated" and that reported allegations are considered for potential prosecution.
