A woman was sentenced after being filmed punching a fellow dog walker in the face, spitting at her and laughing, following a dog-on-dog attack in Canterbury, Kent. Lucie Marsh, 25, assaulted midwife Lisa Wood after Wood kicked out at two dogs, including Marsh's mastiff, which had attacked Wood's German Shepherd on 2 March. The case highlights how a dog altercation escalated into a violent assault with lasting physical and psychological effects on the victim.

CCTV shown to Margate Magistrates' Court captured Marsh grabbing Wood by the hair, punching her three times and spitting in her face while accusing her of kicking her dogs. Wood suffered a black eye, scratches and whiplash, took four weeks off work, and said she now feels "scared of my own shadow" while walking her dog. Marsh, who admitted assault by beating and being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control, was given a six-month community order with 15 rehabilitation sessions, fined £50, and ordered to pay £300 compensation, after the court heard she had undergone therapy and now walks her dog on a lead and muzzle.
