A Polish labourer has been jailed for 17 months after smashing up his boss's Grade II-listed home and car with a claw hammer and a traffic cone, in a revenge attack over deducted wages. Lucasz Dabrowski, 27, had been helping Abrar Mohammed renovate the property in Fort Crescent, Margate, and was staying there, but became angry when Mr Mohammed deducted rent from his pay because the house lacked heating and hot water. The attack, which caused around £14,000 of damage, was captured on CCTV.

Police were first called on 1 May after windows were broken from inside the house, with officers needing to talk Dabrowski down from scaffolding outside; he was arrested and bailed, but returned on 4 May to smash the front bay window with a hammer, hurl a traffic cone through another window, and then break every window of Mr Mohammed's Hyundai i800. Canterbury Crown Court heard he pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage, burglary and assaulting a police officer by spitting at them, and was also given a two-year restraining order. His lawyer said his life had "unravelled" due to substance misuse and that he hoped to be deported to Poland.
