‘Money Heist’ Star Itziar Ituño and Vito Sanz Ready to Dive Into the Dystopian World of Sci-Fi Drama Series ‘Numana’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Spanish actors Itziar Ituño, known for "Money Heist", and Vito Sanz have signed on to star in "Numana", a science-fiction drama series created by the Argentine-Spanish writer-directors Jesica Arán and Soledad Velasco. The project, produced by Chilean-Spanish company Clara Films and Barcelona-based VFX consultancy Unbound Hub, signals a growing appetite for genre storytelling that draws on present-day anxieties about technology, surveillance and corporate power.

Set in the near future, "Numana" depicts a world in which a multinational corporation has replaced democracy with a surveillance state overseen by an omnipresent AI called Aurora, which monitors what people buy, feel and desire. The plot follows two genetically identical women who swap identities and expose a society built on genetic selection and exploitation. The creators say the idea sprang from imagining a future in which "customised" babies could be ordered and returned like online purchases. Currently in the packaging and financing stage, the series is planned as a European-Latin American co-production, shooting across Bilbao, Chile and other locations, with producers now seeking broadcasters, platforms and financing partners.
