Filmed on 16 millimetre stock on June 28th, 1970, the over-80-minute recording had been largely unavailable until now, despite a brief excerpt surfacing online several years prior. Film archivists describe the release as a major moment for the band's historical record, capturing a legendary performance that has long existed primarily in myth rather than documented footage.

The newly published material carries notable technical limitations reflecting its original capture. The cinematographers arrived after the band's helicopter entrance and used film stock designed for daytime conditions, resulting in notably dim visuals throughout much of the performance. The original recording setup lacked multitrack capability; sound was captured on portable equipment and later synchronised to the footage, leaving the audio incomplete and lower fidelity than contemporary standards.
