Morphotonics, a Dutch technology company specialising in nanoimprint lithography, has secured €40 million in funding to expand production and enter the data centre market. The company has spent 12 years developing its technology for manufacturing display components, particularly the waveguide technology essential for smart glasses, as demand in this sector surges.

The funding round, initiated in 2024 and disbursed in multiple tranches, was supported by investors including 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries, and the European Investment Bank. Morphotonics has leveraged the capital to double its workforce to 60 employees and is developing a new machine capable of producing over 6 million waveguides annually, expected to ship in early 2027. The global smart glasses market is expanding rapidly—China's sales doubled in the first eight months of 2026, and industry analysts forecast shipments reaching 12.2 million units by 2030, driving demand for the company's manufacturing equipment and services.
