A three-year-old girl, Khairun Minha Quadri, has died after being struck by a car on the driveway of her family's home in Auburn, western Sydney, prompting her mother and relatives to speak publicly about their loss. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon while the child was playing outside, has led to a negligent driving charge against the man driving the vehicle and has shocked neighbours who often saw the toddler playing nearby.

Khairun was struck shortly after 2pm while playing with a kitchen play set on the driveway; her mother had been bringing in washing metres away at the time and later described her daughter as "very precious". She was taken to Westmead Hospital but died from her injuries. The driver, 27-year-old Sandip Adhikari, who is understood to live in a granny flat at the property but is not related to the family, appeared in Burwood Local Court charged with negligent driving occasioning death; he has not entered a plea, is barred from driving under bail conditions, and must report to police daily until his next court date on 27 October. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and have appealed for witnesses or footage.
