## Key points

- Monica Rivera was found dead beneath a Kansas City bridge.
- Police say a gap may have contributed to a fall.
- Her death remains under investigation.

## Summary

Monica Rivera, a 24-year-old mother of two, was found dead beneath the 7th Street Trafficway Bridge in Kansas City, Kansas, on 23 October, shortly after she was reported missing. Police say a gap between sections of the bridge may have contributed to a fall, but the circumstances of her death have not been publicly established; the case remains under investigation.

Police were called to an industrial area at about 9.45am and identified Rivera as the person found just north of Southwest Boulevard. A police spokesperson said the bridge deck appears continuous but has a gap that someone crossing could fall through. Rivera’s aunt has petitioned the city to close it, and a roadside memorial was set up; police are seeking information and say tips can be given anonymously.
