Motion Picture Academy Names Sean Baker and Samantha Quan as Chairs of Marquee Theater Committee
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has named filmmaker Sean Baker and producer Samantha Quan as co-chairs of its newly created Marquee Theater Committee, which will review submissions and recommend venues for inclusion on the Academy's Marquee Theater List. The appointment forms part of a wider announcement of chairs and vice-chairs across the Academy's committees and affinity groups for the 2026-27 term, bodies intended to guide Academy policy and represent the interests of its membership.
Baker, who won four Oscars in 2025 for "Anora," and Quan, his producing partner, will each serve a one-year term in the new role. Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor and CEO Bill Kramer thanked the appointees for their leadership, while other announced roles included co-chairs for the International Feature Film Executive Committee and the Scientific and Technical Awards Executive Committee, alongside branch executive committee chairs such as Rita Wilson for the Actors Branch.
