Mozilla is rolling out a redesigned Firefox to users on desktop and mobile, refreshing its themes, icons and colours to reflect features added to the browser. The changes matter to users who want a more tailored, accessible interface, and include the return of compact mode, which reduces the space used by the toolbar and tabs.

The update also adds a theme picker with wallpaper options and lets users organise New Tab shortcuts; Mozilla says privacy settings are easier to find and performance has not been sacrificed. Tab groups, split view and vertical tabs remain available but are not prominent by default. The redesign had been available to testers through Firefox Nightly for several months.
