MS NOW, CNN and Politico journalists were denied access to the White House after President Donald Trump announced that the three organisations would be barred from reporting inside the building. The outlets said the ban took effect the following morning, prompting reporters to cover events from outside and raising accusations that the administration had interfered with press freedom.

Reporters’ press badges were reportedly deactivated or confiscated, although one MS NOW producer was still allowed inside. Trump said he was responding to what he called years of false reporting and warned that other outlets could also face restrictions; the affected networks rejected the accusations and said they would defend their constitutional right to report on the government.
