The result marks a significant milestone for the Czech 10th seed, who had reached four major semi-finals before but only once made a Grand Slam final, losing the 2023 French Open to Iga Swiatek.

Muchova took the first set comfortably before Gauff, the seventh seed and a two-time Grand Slam champion, fought back to level the match. The pair traded blows in a tense third set that went to a tie-break, where Gauff recovered from 4-1 down and held a match point on serve, only to net a forehand.
