Murder probe launched after horsewoman’s body found in the cinders of burned down stables
A murder investigation has been launched after the body of Laura Foulis, a 38-year-old mother of three, was discovered in the aftermath of a fire at farm stables on the outskirts of Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Police and fire crews found her remains after being called to the blaze at Higher Tunshill Farm on Friday lunchtime, and a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder before being bailed pending further enquiries.
Ms Foulis, originally from the Isle of Man, was a keen horsewoman who frequently shared images and videos of herself and her children riding online. Her former partner, David Jacobs, 43, with whom she shared a 16-year-old son, said they were both "devastated", while friends paid tribute to her as a "kind and beautiful" woman with a "big heart" who inspired others' passion for horses. Forensic experts spent several days examining the burnt-out site.
