Music’s “Madman Genius” Dead at 69: RIP William Orbit
Producer and musician William Orbit has died at the age of 69, his family announced. Best known for his influential work with Madonna and other major artists, Orbit’s death marks the loss of a producer widely credited with helping shape modern pop and electronic music.
His family said he died at home on 23 July, with no cause of death disclosed, and requested privacy. Orbit reportedly contributed to more than 200 million album sales and co-wrote several tracks on Madonna’s successful 1998 album Ray of Light, whose sound she attributed to his experimental, “madman genius” approach.
