The showrunners of My Adventures with Superman say they have plans for at least two further seasons, despite Adult Swim not officially renewing the series. Season 3’s finale leaves Clark Kent facing a potentially fatal consequence for regaining his powers, setting up a larger conflict involving Lex Luthor and ideas drawn from All-Star Superman; the creators also tease an eventual villain they regard as more frightening than Darkseid.

The season loosely reworks the 1990s “Reign of the Supermen!” storyline by making Superman temporarily powerless after fighting Hank Henshaw, rather than killing him. Clark regains his abilities through a risky encounter with a descendant of Krypton’s living sun Rao, emerging with temporary new solar powers before returning to his familiar suit; however, flashbacks suggest the energy may be damaging him. Luthor ends the season imprisoned, having created the Superman clone Eradicator because he fears the new stars and galaxies that appeared following Brainiac’s invasion.
