In the finale, Cole's rival Danvers Stacey runs him off the road after Cole forfeits a race, causing Cole's newly restored 1981 Camaro to flip and crash. The crash comes moments after Jackie kisses childhood friend Elliot, a character introduced this season as a disruptive presence in her relationship with Cole. Halsall explained that Elliot was deliberately written as a "curveball" reminding Jackie of her old life in New York, adding tension to the love triangle while the season's fate for Cole is left unresolved.
