## Summary

Rafael Nadal is set to join Real Madrid’s board of directors, subject to approval by the club’s members at a meeting later this month. The appointment brings one of Spain’s most prominent sports figures into a senior role at the football club he supported from childhood, though his responsibilities have not yet been announced.

Nadal, 40, won 22 Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals, and helped Spain win five Davis Cups before retiring in 2024. He thanked president Florentino Pérez and the board for the proposal, saying he accepted with excitement and a willingness to contribute. Real, whose members re-elected Pérez for a new four-year term in June, are third in La Liga after 11 games, three points behind Barcelona.
