Naga Munchetty is leaving BBC Breakfast after 17 years to become co-presenter of Radio 5 Live's breakfast show from January, the BBC has announced. The move follows reports that Munchetty had faced allegations of bullying on the BBC Breakfast programme, though there is no suggestion that her departure is connected to these claims; the BBC has said it does not comment on individual HR matters.

Munchetty has presented 5 Live's weekday mid-morning programme since 2021 and will take over the breakfast slot alongside a new co-host yet to be recruited. Current 5 Live Breakfast hosts Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards are stepping down in December, with Burden moving to the mid-morning show and Edwards continuing to front Fighting Talk on Saturdays. Munchetty described the move as "an opportunity that was simply too good to pass up" and will keep presenting both her current programmes until the transition in January. It was reported earlier this month that she earned between £360,000 and £364,999 in the 2025-26 financial year.
