Natural, a fintech startup building payment infrastructure designed for AI agents rather than humans, has raised $30 million in Series A funding as it prepares to compete with established players such as Stripe. The company argues that today's financial rails, including credit cards and ACH transfers, rely on human authorisation and are too slow for AI agents that are increasingly capable of autonomously sourcing vendors, negotiating and arranging transactions, but still cannot complete the actual payment without human involvement. Natural aims to close that gap by acting as an orchestration layer that lets agents move and store funds, pay vendors, collect payments, and transact with both humans and other agents.

The Series A round was led by Kirsten Green of Forerunner, bringing Natural's total funding to $40 million, and reflects interest in its broader ambition to rebuild payment infrastructure, including how disputed transactions are managed. Founded in 2025 by Kahlil Lalji, Eric Wang and Walt Leung, the startup has operated in beta and has hired staff from Stripe, Ramp and Square. While Stripe is developing its own agent-focused payment tools and rivals such as Skyfire Systems are betting on stablecoins, Natural plans to support both stablecoins and traditional bank payments as it seeks to become the financial backbone for autonomous AI transactions.
