## Key points

- Tony DiNozzo may remain in charge for Season 25.
- No decision has been made about Weatherly’s future.
- The show is taking his return one season at a time.

## Summary

Showrunner Steven D. Binder says Michael Weatherly could continue playing NCIS Director Tony DiNozzo in Season 25, but the show has not decided how long he will stay. His return has brought the character back to the centre of the series after years away.

Binder told TV Insider that the production is taking the future one season at a time, while saying he is enjoying having DiNozzo in charge and sees no reason for the storyline to slow down. Season 24 is planned for 20 episodes; Binder contrasted that schedule with streaming shows that may make eight episodes over 25 months. The series airs on CBS on Tuesdays, with episodes available on Paramount+.
