Nearly 8 in 10 Americans say Iran war has been harder than Trump administration expected: Poll

A CBS News/YouGov poll found that most Americans believe the US war with Iran has proved more difficult for the Trump administration than it expected. The finding suggests broad public concern about the conflict’s course and uncertainty over how long it will continue, as it nears five months.

Seventy-six per cent of 2,193 respondents said the war had been harder than expected, compared with 20 per cent who said it had gone about as expected and 4 per cent who said it had been easier. Thirty-seven per cent expected the conflict to continue for months and more than one in five for years, while roughly two-thirds said President Trump should end it now; the poll’s margin of error was 2.7 percentage points.
