Neil Young and Willie Nelson are set to co-headline two shows in late September, ahead of their regular appearance together at the Farm Aid benefit concert. Young, backed by his new group The Chrome Hearts, and Nelson with his Family band will play joint bills in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, with support from Ty Myers. The pairing continues a long-running musical partnership between the two artists, who most often share a stage at Farm Aid, the annual charity concert Young co-founded.

The co-headlining dates are 22 September in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and 24 September in Philadelphia, before both perform at Farm Aid in Virginia Beach on 26 September. Tickets are currently available via presale to members of Nelson's Club Luck and Neil Young Archives, with a Live Nation presale opening on 20 August and general sale on 21 August via Ticketmaster. The shows come as Young and The Chrome Hearts prepare to release their new album, Second Song, on 18 September, while Nelson is wrapping up his Outlaw Music Festival tour, which continues with additional dates through late August and into September.

Neil Young and Willie Nelson are two of American music's most enduring figures, both known for decades of songwriting, activism and a shared commitment to supporting struggling farmers. Young co-founded Farm Aid in 1985 alongside Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, and the annual benefit concert has remained a fixture for both artists, who regularly perform together at it each year.

The two are now set to play a pair of joint shows away from that usual Farm Aid setting, each backed by their own long-running bands, shortly before this year's Farm Aid event takes place. The dates coincide with Young releasing new music and Nelson finishing up a separate summer tour of his own.

Farm Aid itself is a nonprofit concert and campaign that raises money and awareness for family farmers in the United States, and it is this shared cause, alongside their long musical association, that connects the two artists' careers.
