Netflix Hikes UK Prices, With Cheapest Plan Jumping A Third
Netflix has raised its UK subscription prices, with the cheapest ad-supported tier jumping by a third. The changes took effect on 3 September with little fanfare and apply to both new and existing customers, marking the streamer's first UK price rise since February. The move narrows the gap between Netflix's cheapest and most expensive plans and lands amid heightened sensitivity to cost-of-living pressures in Britain.
The Standard with Ads plan rose 33.4%, from £5.99 to £7.99 a month, while the ad-free Standard tier increased 7.7% to £13.99 and Premium rose 10.5% to £20.99. Netflix, which has more than 18 million UK subscribers, said the increases reflect improvements to its content and service quality. The rises come the same week telecoms group VodafoneThree announced Vodafone TV, a new October service bundling free channels with Netflix, HBO Max and AVOD platforms such as Tubi.
