Netflix lands global streaming deal for ‘The Walking Dead’
Netflix has agreed a reported $500 million, multi-year global licensing deal with AMC Global Media for *The Walking Dead* universe. The arrangement broadens Netflix’s access to a proven franchise and reflects streaming services’ preference for established, high-volume programmes that can sustain viewing time.
The deal covers 371 episodes of the original series and six spin-offs, with Netflix sharing co-exclusive rights with AMC+ rather than retaining sole access. The original series will expand into markets including the UK, Italy, Australia and New Zealand, while the full spin-off catalogue is due to arrive globally from 2027; AMC Networks also raised its forward guidance after announcing the agreement.
