Netflix is expanding its Parasyte franchise with a new live-action series, Parasyte: Tamiya, set to stream in 2027. The show marks a return to the manga universe first explored in 2024's Parasyte: The Grey, which became a major global hit for the streamer, and will star Shioli Kutsuna (Sanctuary, Deadpool 2) in the title role of Ryoko Tamiya.

Parasyte: The Grey creator Yeon Sang-ho is back at the helm, having developed the new series and co-written the scripts with Ryu Yong-jae, while producer Wowpoint also returns, with Kensaku Kakimoto and Kazuhiro Nakagawa directing. The Grey spent four weeks atop Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English list in 2024 and reached number one in 34 countries. Tamiya will retell the story from the perspective of Ryoko, a parasite inhabiting a human body who gradually questions whether coexistence, rather than conflict, offers her species a better path to survival — a narrative Yeon says captures the "anguish" at the heart of the original manga.
