Netflix To Stop Biannual Viewership Reports, Opting Instead For Yearly Data Dump Amid Scrutiny Over Audience Retention
Netflix will stop publishing viewership reports twice a year and instead release a single annual engagement report from the first quarter of 2027. The company says the move will keep attention on revenue and operating profit, but it reduces the frequency of publicly available audience data as Netflix faces questions over whether viewers are returning for later seasons of major shows.
Netflix’s final biannual “What We Watched” report covers the first half of 2026, after which disclosures will move to an annual schedule. Co-chief executive Ted Sarandos said second seasons remain within expected performance ranges, while acknowledging that viewing often falls after a first season; some returning series, including The Four Seasons, were reported to have declined by as much as 63%, while His & Hers led first-half TV viewing with more than 100 million views.

- The change comes amid concern over returning-series viewership declines.
