Netflix is removing all seven seasons of the medical drama Nurse Jackie from its streaming platform on 6 October, just two weeks away. The move comes as the show had been serving as a temporary replacement for fans of HBO's hugely popular The Pitt, which has become an unexpected hit with award recognition and a third season in development. The removal matters because Netflix's own attempt to fill the gap with an original medical drama called Pulse failed to gain traction and was cancelled after a single season.

Nurse Jackie originally aired between 2009 and 2015, starring Edie Falco in the lead role as an emergency room nurse navigating a dysfunctional healthcare system whilst struggling with substance abuse. The series holds strong critical and audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes at 81% and 87% respectively. After its removal from Netflix, viewers will have limited options to watch the show, with the only alternative currently being access via the Howdy extension on Prime Video, and no new streaming home has yet been announced.
