Netflix has wrapped production on the first season of its live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins, confirming a global premiere in 2027. The reimagining recasts the Mystery Inc. gang as teenagers spending their final summer at camp, where old friends Shaggy and Daphne become entangled in a mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy linked to a supernatural death; they are joined by Velma and newcomer Freddy as the case threatens to expose each character's secrets.

In a first for the franchise, Scooby-Doo is played by a real Great Dane rather than an animated or costumed character. The cast includes Tanner Hagen, Mckenna Grace, Abby Ryder Fortson and Maxwell Jenkins in the lead roles, alongside a wider ensemble featuring Paul Walter Hauser, Sara Gilbert and Bruce McGill, among others. Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are showrunners and executive producers, with Greg Berlanti and Toby Haynes among the additional executive producers, and Warner Bros. Television serving as the studio behind the show, which is based on Hanna-Barbera's characters created in 1969 by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.
