Netflix’s Long-Running Action Thriller Series Is Officially Getting a Sequel

Collider · 3 hours ago

Netflix's action thriller Sniper: No Nation has become a major streaming hit, prompting confirmation that a sequel is in the works. Star Chad Michael Collins revealed the news via Instagram replies to fans asking whether the film's cliffhanger would be resolved, responding "Coming soon" and teasing the follow-up with parachute emojis, though studio Sony Pictures has yet to make an official announcement. The success extends a franchise that began over three decades ago and has proved unusually durable across changes in lead actor and format.

The Sniper series debuted in 1993 with Tom Berenger as Marine sniper Thomas Beckett, before Collins took over as his son Brandon Beckett from 2011's Sniper: Reloaded onwards. No Nation reunites Collins with Berenger, with father and son cast as enemies of the state fighting mercenaries and their own government, alongside co-stars Ryan Robbins and Keston John. Given the franchise's history of rapid turnaround between instalments, fans are expected to wait only a short time for an official release announcement; the original film is currently available on Netflix and for digital rental or purchase elsewhere.
